Golf Carts & Most Other Off-Highway Vehicles

As of Friday August 11, 2023, the city of Montgomery no longer issues Golf Cart Permits. Per State Law (TTC 551 and 551A) and the City of Montgomery's Golf Cart Ordinance (Article 6, Chapter 86), golf carts and other off-highway vehicles must display a license plate issued by the TXDMV. To apply for a license plate for your golf cart, you will need to complete the Application for Texas Title and/or Registration and bring it to the nearest tax office.
