Extreme Fire Risk! No Outdoor Burning. Burn Ban in Effect.

BURN BAN IN EFFECT!

Montgomery County is currently experiencing a significant drought!

Due to worsening weather conditions and the increased risk for catastrophic wildfires Judge Keough has issued a disaster declaration to prohibit outdoor burning of limbs and leaves. This new prohibition is in addition to the year-round law that prohibits burning of household trash in Montgomery County.

The order further requires commercial land clearing operations utilizing air curtain incinerators to cease burning as well until inspected by the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office. Operators shall display and promptly provide TCEQ permits to inspectors.

This order takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday October 16, 2024.

Additionally, in order to ensure maximum readiness for the increased wildfire threat, Governor Abbott has also issued a disaster Declaration that includes Montgomery County and 142 other Texas Counties.
