Gary Palmer, City Administrator

City Administrator

Gary Palmer was appointed as City Administrator on December 13, 2022.  Gary Started his career in local government in 1998 as an urban planning consultant in the metro Detroit area.  In 2001, he moved into a leadership role for five years as Community Development Director for one of his client-communities, Garden City Michigan.  Tired of the Michigan winters, Gary moved to East Tennessee and spent 11 years as the Assistant Town Manager for the Town of Farragut, TN.  His last four years in local government was as City Administrator for the City of Roswell, GA in Metro Atlanta.   

Gary holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration, is a credentialed manager through the International City Managers Association, and a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners.   Gary is a 10-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
