Human Resources
The Mission of the Human Resources is to provide quality Services to the employees of the City of Montgomery, while promoting a positive and diverse work community. Human Resources is responsible for Employee Benefits, Employee Relations, Wellness, Safety, Workers' Compensation, and Personnel Services.
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
The following is a summary of benefits, the benefits apply to all full-time personnel employed by the City of Montgomery.
Medical Insurance
The City offers medical insurance to its full-time employees, and is generously covered at 100% of the cost. As an additional benefits full-time employees dependents are covered at 50% cost. The City's current Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance plan is through Texas Municipal League Health. The Carrier is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.
Workers' Compensation
Workers' Compensation is paid in accordance with the Workers' Compensation Act. Workers' Compensation Insurance is provided by Texas Municipal League.
Retirement
Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) Employee Handbook – Section IV. Benefits; Reference Number 4.01 Texas Municipal Retirement system (TMRS)
TMRS is a mandatory program for Full-Time and Part-Time Employees whose regular scheduled hours total at least 1,000 hours per calendar year. TMRS contribution is 7% from each paycheck with the City matching 2:1. All employees will be considered “vested” at five (5) years and retirement eligible with 20 years creditable service at any age or at least 60 years of age.
Supplemental Death Benefit (SDB) The City provides an SDB for employees through TMRS, and if you die while employed, your beneficiary will receive an SDB equal to your annual salary.
Social Security
The City participates in the Federal Social Security program with all benefits deriving therefrom.

Supplemental Insurance
AFLAC: The City offers supplemental Cancer, Accident, Intensive/Critical Care, Hospitalization, Personal Sickness, Specific Health Event, Juvenile Life, Term Life insurance plans with AFLAC. The premiums are payroll deducted and are pre tax.
MASA: The City offers supplemental Ambulance, Transportation Insurance through MASA. Premiums are payroll deducted.
